Vellum works with a lot of news publications in its news coverage, but we were happy to find that many non-profit organizations have been able to find a use for Nathan’s images over the past week in their own fund raising efforts for Haiti.  It means a lot to us to have been able to not only help with our images, but to also have the opportunity to take it a step further, and make a direct financial contribution as a business. As promised, Vellum will be donating $10 from every image sale to the Red Cross to help in the recovery. Additionally, Vellum will be making a contribution to the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission, a group that has had an exceptional team of people working in Haiti for several decades.  We encourage you to visit their site, and support their work.

Another moment that has really meant a lot to us at Vellum was a recent email from someone telling us that they would be making their own donation to the Haiti relief effort, as a result of Nathan’s work in the country. Here is an excerpt from that email:

“Okay, so i’m not so much for having the images of devastation and death hanging around my house….
BUT, I love that Vellum’s donating a percentage of the income from your Haiti work to charity…
SO, I’ve donated $500.00 to the Haitian Relief Fund at the Clinton Foundation in honor of the work you’re doing there now.”

Haiti Earthquake Photos, Day 1 – Images by Vellum Industrial Media

Vellum Media photographer Nathan Weber will be arriving in Haiti this afternoon, covering the earthquake for our editorial clients. If you would like to receive image and multimedia updates, please email us directly at contact@vellummedia.com.

Clients will be able to download images and multimedia directly from this page through out the course of coverage.  PhotoShelter galleries and video will be published on this page as they are transmitted from Haiti.  Please check back for updates through out the day.

We feel that strong journalism will be instrumental to bringing help to Haiti.  Because of that, Vellum has suspended its standard editorial image rates, and is offering royalty free image purchases for $35.00 and multimedia purchases for $200, in an effort to help editorial publications do what they do best.  Additionally, Vellum will donate $10 from each image purchase, and $50 from each multimedia purchase to the Red Cross Haiti Relief effort.  If you would like to contribute directly to the Red Cross you can do so by clicking HERE.
